The Where I Ride logo development, was one of most enjoyable logo projects i had the pleasure working in.
So i thought it would be nice if i explained how we got to the final result!
After taking on this project, my first thought was to come up with 2 different solutions:
One that would talk more to the "able to pinpoint" aspect of the application & another that would appeal more to the "extreme sports/locations" aspect of it.
My first mockups were still somewhat rough but were able to clear the clients doubts about which path to follow. So after some consideration he decided to go with the second theme.
Following the client latest feedback, i began to explore the "extreme sport/locations" aspect of things. To me that meant a fun and less formal logo.
I also decided to include, "water based" sports, by including some waves on the logo. At first i had excluded this idea, as i was afraid it would make the logo look too cluttered
The client liked this but thought a more "balanced" design would be a safer bet.
After some tweaks, i came up with the final design, which made both me and the client, very happy with.
This logo was for a application that enables athletes involved in skiing, snowboarding, skateboarding, rollerblading, Mountain biking, longboarding and so on...to find new spots through the gps in their smart phones.
